Chaired by Bill Donaldson the team will report on James Hansen’s award of the Edinburgh Medal at the 2012 Edinburgh Science Festival.
Tom Strathdee will describe Hansen’s remarkable career which, as early as 1988, included telling a Senate Committee that he was 99% certain earth’s atmosphere was seriously over-heating. The US government tried to change his research findings, to sack him, to prevent him from making public speeches.
Morris Bradley will give a simplified account of Hansen’s world-renowned work and the scientific basis for his conclusions.
Frances Morgan will describe the method of reducing carbon emissions which Hansen’s argues is the most honest and effective and politically acceptable.
